Artist Statement
You hope, you try, you make an effort, and you fail. Then you gather yourself and try again. It's a cycle of optimism and disappointment, of expectations and reality checks. We've all been there, chasing something elusive, believing that this time might be different.
My photographs make this pursuit their central theme. Each image begins as an attempt to capture something, yet the outcome remains open to chance. I use a pinhole camera, which offers very little control over the final result. With prolonged exposures, it records not so much a moment as the passage of time.
The instant I begin an exposure is separated from its end by minutes, sometimes hours. During that time, the world continues to move and change, and the image takes shape beyond my control.
I see a parallel with our own experience. We evolve, we change, and our understanding of the world shifts with us. Nothing remains quite the same. Yet hope persists. Sometimes fragile, sometimes overwhelming, it keeps us moving forward, believing that something wonderful might still be waiting to be discovered. Time after time.
